Rámájana patří mezi velké světové eposy. Ale samotný příběh není jediným důvodem její populárnosti, mnohem podstatnější je přitažlivost a moc Pána Rámy. Pán Ráma je Nejvyšší Osobnost Božství, Absolutní Pravda a příčina všech příčin. Sestoupil na zem a žil skoro jako by byl obyčejný člověk. Pán Ráma jednal jako dokonalý král, manžel, bratr, otec a syn. Byl radostí pro všechny zbožné lidi, a oplácel lásku dokonce i obyvatelům džungle a opicím. Ale pro zlomyslné a démonské lidi byl zosobněnou smrtí.

For its romance, heroism, moral instruction and pathos, the Ramayana certainly qualifies among the world’s great epics. But the story line is not the only cause of its underlaying popularity; even more essential is the attractiveness and power of Lord Rama Himself. Lord Rama is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth and the cause of all causes. He descended to earth and lived almost as if an ordinary human. Lord Rama acted as the ideal king, husband, brother, father and son. He was the delight of all godly people, and reciprocated the love of even the jungle dwellers and monkeys. Yet to the wicked and demoniac He was death personified.
